Corinne is another incredible midwife at Astoria Birth Center and had this to say about her why:
“I wanted to be a midwife ever since I was little. When I was a kid, it was because I loved babies so much, but as I grew older it was because I witnessed so much power in women and birthing people and wanted to do whatever I could to support people through such a challenging, beautiful, and transformative journey.”
When asked what her favorite part of attending births is, she had this to say:
“I have two favorite parts of birth – one is the silence in between contractions, when the room is quiet and dark and everyone has their utmost focus on the birthing person. The glances between partners or support people during these moments can hold a million emotions. The other, of course, is that first cry from baby that signals a new soul arriving in this world!”
Corinne is the Clinical Director at the Astoria Birth Center and has been a nurse midwife since graduating from Yale in 2016. She has an additional certification as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner which means she has extensive knowledge and training in pelvic and breast health.
Maternal and infant health and safety is always the priority and midwifery is an excellent way to support women in achieving their goal of delivering their baby safely. We can remember that physiologic birth is normal and not an inherent emergency!
